Niagara College (NC) prepares students with the specialized expertise required to begin careers in an industry that increasingly demands highly skilled cannabis professionals.
The Commercial Cannabis Production program offers comprehensive training in the biology and cultivation practices of cannabis production, including plant nutrition, environmental management, lighting, climate control, pest and disease management, and cultivar selection.
Program Highlights:
• Teaches students to design and implement effective plant nutrition, lighting, and pest management programs. • Builds the knowledge and skills needed to pursue roles such as Master Grower and/or Micro Cultivator License holder. • Provides training in craft cannabis cultivation techniques. • Develops the ability to analyze crops and adapt growth conditions and pest management strategies as needed. • Ensures understanding of regulations for safe and legal production and packaging. • Guides students in creating production plans for sourcing raw materials and maintaining a consistent supply of high-quality crops. • Includes training to develop and implement systems for documenting and tracking crop production costs and interpreting budgets and financial statements to support efficient operations. • Prepares students to plan and oversee staffing and spatial allocation to meet production objectives. • Emphasizes adherence to and execution of appropriate security protocols. • Offers the opportunity to participate in an internship with a licensed producer or an industry-related project.
