Nurses make a real difference in their career, they can enter the workforce quickly, they have stable jobs, they work in a well-respected field, and they can chose from many specialties. In the nursing field, one can specialize in pediatrics and work only with children or work as a surgical nurse in the operating room. Students may choose to work in a hospital, clinic, or school. Students can also become a correctional nurse and work in a prison facility or choose an alternate path with a government agency or large corporation. APSU School of Nursing has 24 full-time faculty. All have a masters degrees or doctoral degree in their area of nursing specialty. The Director, staff, and faculty of the School of Nursing demonstrate respect for all persons, serving as role models and mentors to students as they evolve in professional development specific to their level of education and practice roles. The baccalaureate degree (BSN) program in nursing at Austin Peay State University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and is approved by the Tennessee Department of Health Board of Nursing. APSU School of Nursing admits students twice a year in the BSN Nursing Major (Pre-Licensure). The BSN Nursing Major (Pre-Licensure) has a five-year average NCLEX pass rate of 95%. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Austin Peay State University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
