This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the International Study Centre at the University of Sussex followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of Sussex. In the Pre-Master's programme, you will study courses related to your intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance your skills as a student. Advancement into your intended program depends upon the successful completion of the pathway program.
The Pre-Masters in Business, Media and Social Sciences, provides a route to a variety of postgraduate degrees at the University of Sussex. English language and career skills are combined with subject-specific modules such as social sciences, cultural studies, a variety of business skills like accounting and business management to provide you with a strong foundation for your chosen business, media and social sciences degree.
During the Master of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies, you develop essential journalistic skills in a multimedia context. You explore key theoretical issues and debates about journalism and news production in relation to contemporary media, culture and society.
We focus on fast-changing developments in journalism and media studies. This MA combines both theory and practice. You will: • learn to research and write for print and digital media, as well as subediting and print news design
• contextualise journalistic practice within a theoretical framework of journalism and media studies • understand transitional processes in the news landscape at local, regional and global level • understand current theories and debates surrounding the media and society.
We offer excellent technical facilities. These include a dedicated newsroom, the latest software, video and radio studios, and a suite of digital media laboratories.
