Foundation Program (091322F) + Diploma of Educational Studies (103070G)
Griffith College - Southport (Gold Coast)
What you will study
The Foundation Program is designed for students that haven’t yet completed their high school education to Australian Year 12 standard, or equivalent. With small class sizes, teachers are able to provide a high level of personal attention, helping students develop the confidence and study structure for academic success.
The Foundation Program has been designed to prepare students for a diploma or degree in Arts, Education, Business, Commerce, Design, Engineering, Health, Hotel Management, Information Technology and Science. It’s structured to be completed over two trimesters (8 months), with English language, academic communication skills a central focus, along with computer skills and intercultural studies.
Once students complete course requirements for the Foundation Program, students can continue on into their diploma of choice.
Designed in partnership with Griffith University, the new Diploma of Educational Studies transitions seamlessly into the highly-regarded Bachelor of Education. This puts students in a strong position for a wide range of teaching careers, across the public and private sectors. It can lead to senior positions, like department head or principal.
Griffith University has the highest education graduate success rates in Australia. Graduates are in demand and find employment in the independent, Catholic and state education systems in Queensland as well as overseas.
An education qualification is also a good general qualification for many areas of work. Rather than teaching in schools, students could choose to follow a different pathway. Options include training settings in industry and government, outdoor education, adult literacy, libraries, educational research, education policy, or consultancy.
If students need additional English, Maths or Science qualifications to be eligible for a teaching degree, this new diploma is perfect for them. Rather than needing to complete extra study, including bridging and enabling subjects, students can meet the requirements while studying this one-year diploma.
