St. Lawrence College - Kingston
This two-year Ontario College Diploma program prepares students to work as practical, front-line service providers in a variety of social service settings.
The Social Service Worker program provides opportunities for students to learn how to support diverse populations, including individuals experiencing mental health challenges, substance dependence, settlement difficulties, poverty, educational barriers, homelessness, abuse and trauma.
Practical training is delivered through field placement opportunities selected to support each student’s professional growth. Placements may be available in shelters, poverty support programs, mental health services, employment assistance organizations, elementary and secondary schools, residential programs, long-term care facilities and seniors’ outreach services.
