New Brunswick Community College - Miramichi
Prospective students are invited to take on the big machines that keep industries moving through the Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician Diploma Program. This program is designed to launch a career in servicing and maintaining the powerful equipment used in construction, transportation, forestry, and mining.
The two-year program begins with a common first year, providing a strong foundation in mechanical systems and trade fundamentals. After the first year, students specialize in heavy-duty equipment, gaining hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and electronic controls.
Optional Co-op Work Placement
Students have the opportunity to apply their skills in a real-world setting by participating in an optional co-op placement. This experience connects them with industry employers, offering valuable on-the-job training and a head start in their careers.
Early Exit Certificate Option
For those not ready to commit to the full diploma, an early exit option is available after the first year. Students who choose this path receive a Heavy-Duty Equipment / Truck and Transport Certificate, recognizing their foundational skills and preparing them for entry-level positions or further apprenticeship pathways.
Whether pursuing the full diploma or the fast-track certificate, the program provides flexibility, industry relevance, and a clear pathway to success in the skilled trades.
