Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB) - Elementary and High Schools
The Health Assistance & Nursing program prepares students with the skills to deliver health care to patients in order to support their optimal quality of life. Nursing assistants carry out a variety of essential tasks and are an important part of a health care team.
LBPSB's exciting learning spaces include interactive classrooms and laboratories that simulate a true to life hospital environment. Working in small groups, students will benefit from co-operative learning with their classmates. All teachers are former nurses and they share their experience through hands on learning and support. Learning theory is complemented by real world experience in a hospital setting through the student placement program.
Skills students will learn: • Care of patients • How to administer medication and perform medical procedures • Understanding how body systems work • CPR and PDSB
Health care professionals are in high demand. LBPSB assists graduates in finding work in hospitals, nursing homes, and long-term health care facilities. Many use the program as a stepping-stone to become a Registered Nurse.
