The College, Swansea University
What you will study
Program Description Education is a forward-looking, research-led discipline concerned with policy and practice from a global perspective. It is a rapidly growing area of study that draws on the disciplines of psychology, philosophy, history and the social sciences to focus on understanding how people learn and how structures of education operate to foster life-long learning and personal development. Designed for both UK/EU and international students, Swansea's BA (Hons) Education programme considers education in a wide context, not just within formal primary and secondary school settings, but also Further/Higher Education, social services, local and national government, and education within the community.
Specializing in both education and computing will equip students with a valuable blend of skills and knowledge for a fulfilling career in computing education. This three-year degree from Swansea University will teach students how elements of computing can be applied to education and wider society, and ultimately help them find their place in an ever-shifting technological and educational landscape.
Students will assess and reflect on digital learning technologies central to current trends in education theory and practice. They will consider education in the widest context outside of formal primary and secondary school settings, to include social services, local and national government, and education within the community. Work placements will be undertaken in organizations such as schools, local authorities, businesses and charities. Students will be introduced to computing skills such as programming and computing system analysis, as well as the fundamental mathematics and theory of computer science.
