Cardiff University - Cathays Park
The MA Translation Studies program offers core training in the theory and practice of translation. Its design was informed by various protocols and best practice guidelines for the study of translation, ensuring that it meets the standards and expectations of the contemporary translation service and industry.
The aim of the program is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the development of the discipline of translation studies and the translation industry. This allows students to pursue their specialist or vocational interests within a general framework.
Students will be introduced to the main theoretical issues of translation studies, which will enable them to demonstrate how these issues are relevant to their specific area of study. This could include the practical translation of literary, legal, medical, or administrative texts, or the academic study of translation, such as its theory and history, or the complex cultural transactions involved in translation.
Throughout the program, students will develop an awareness of the challenges of understanding and interpretation that arise in the practice of translation. They will explore these challenges in relation to key theoretical approaches. As a result, students will develop analytical, practical, evaluative, aesthetic, and expository skills that will enable them to address these challenges in both applied and theoretical contexts.

Tell us, and a consultant will go through the entry requirements with you, work out what you already have and what is missing, and take the application from there.
Leave your name and a way to reach you, and a consultant will get in touch in the language you are reading this in.
