Master of Arts (Honours) - History and Classics (VQ18)

History is considered a perfect partner for classics, as it involves the study of the languages, literature, history, art, and archaeology of ancient Greeks and Romans. The knowledge and exploration of the ancient world hold great significance in later periods of history. Understanding the classical world serves as a valuable tool for historians across various periods, locations, and themes.

Within the field of history, courses encompass a range of topics, including historical periods from the early Middle Ages to the present, geographical regions such as Britain, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, and diverse approaches to the past. These approaches include political history, cultural history, social history, economic history, intellectual history, gender history, as well as global and transnational history.

On the classics side of the program, students have the opportunity to delve into the study of Latin language and literature or Greek language and literature.
