Bachelor of Education

From early literacy strategies to inclusive education frameworks, students in the Bachelor of Education program build the confidence to lead with empathy and clarity. They may choose a specialization in Early, Middle, or Secondary Years to complete this four-year degree. This program is where future educators begin—with purpose, passion, and a plan to make a difference.

Education at RDP is centered on more than lesson plans—it focuses on shaping minds, sparking curiosity, and creating inclusive classrooms where every student feels valued. Students explore how children and youth learn, what motivates them, and how to support their growth through thoughtful, evidence-based teaching.

The four-year Bachelor of Education degree emphasizes relationship-building, social responsibility, inclusion, foundational knowledge, and the integration of theory into practice. These foundational principles are integral to developing the competencies required to teach in Alberta.

After the first year, students join a specialization cohort in Early Years (K–4), Middle Years (5–9), or Secondary (10–12) Education. Each student selects one of eleven minor subject areas, while those in the Secondary stream also choose one of five teachable subject majors.

Throughout the program, students engage in interactive learning activities, create presentations, develop classroom-ready teaching materials, and collaborate closely with peers. Graduates emerge with the knowledge and skills to design high-quality, equitable, and authentic learning opportunities that meet diverse learner needs.
