Acadia University

What you will study

Acadia University’s Jodrey School of Computer Science will help students move beyond being just a user of computers. The School will teach students how to design and implement computer systems that solve real-world problems.

The Bachelor of Computer Science degree is a 4-year program meant to meet and exceed Canadian Information Technology Professionals Society (CIPS) and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) standards for undergraduate programs. Acadia University’s program provides a mix of the following:

• Computational theory • Systems and architecture knowledge • Problem solving • Systems analysis • Application development skills and experience

These programs are designed for students who do not have any programming experience. If students have programming experience, please let the school know. They may be able to fast-track first-year courses. As students learn, they will also develop skills in interpersonal relations, communication, teamwork, project management, and entrepreneurship. The second major and interdisciplinary study options allow students to combine computer science with other areas of science, arts and professional studies at Acadia. Acadia University's award-winning co-op program allows students to work at leading software companies during their educational journey, helping them earn money while they study. The co-op program boasts high placement rates at companies from across Canada.
