Earning the state Early Childhood Education Certificate builds knowledge and skills to promote the healthy development of our youngest learners – children birth to eight years old. It emphasizes relationships with families, culturally sustaining practices, and is a stepping stone to the Associate of Applied Science in early childhood education.
Students will: • Investigate and develop curriculum that promotes learning across academic domains utilizing state standards and culturally sustaining practices
• Develop teaching strategies for language acquisition and literacy skills • Design and evaluate inclusive classroom environments that support the optimal development of young children • Collect, record, and reflect on observation and assessment data, describing responsible assessment practices • Explore community demographics, integrating family and community contexts into program planning. • Demonstrate competency in college level math • Demonstrate competency in college level writing.
