Overview
As a Primary School teacher, Student can foster a lifelong love for the environment through a specialist pathway in Environmental and Experiential Learning. This focuses on place-based learning linked to Morecambe’s Eden Project North and involves collaboration with local schools on the Morecambe Bay curriculum. Our respected PGCE General Primary with QTS guides them from student to Early Career Teacher. This internationally known qualification, combined with Qualified Teacher Status, equips them with evidence-based skills to handle the challenges of the primary classroom. They can begin teaching as a qualified primary school teacher immediately after graduation. This Environmental and Experiential Learning pathway, based on our PGCE General Primary, lets you refine place-based teaching in primary schools. It encourages a love for the local area, addresses environmental issues, and helps create inspiring learning experiences using the natural environment. They will learn through theory and practice within the National Curriculum, covering key teaching skills like understanding how children learn, managing behavior, lesson planning, and adapting to diverse learners. They will also focus on challenging disadvantage and raising aspirations. More than half the course involves assessed placements with children, enriched by school activities and university study.
