Overview
A foundation year helps students develop the study skills and self-confidence needed for higher education if they do not meet the entry requirements for their chosen subject.
Understanding vital topics such as climate change, sustainability, wildlife protection, and environmental pollution is essential for preserving and continuing life on Earth. With a Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Science degree from Canterbury Christ Church University, students will gain the knowledge and practical skills necessary to help save the planet.
With a strong emphasis on laboratory skills and fieldwork, this BSc in Ecology and Conservation degree is a practice-based course aimed at preparing students for various career paths after graduation. Throughout the course, students will have opportunities to engage in fieldwork locally, nationally, and internationally, with previous trips including destinations such as India and Iceland, and more international opportunities available in the next academic year.
Students will work alongside lecturers who are actively involved in research. They may have the chance to participate in current research, as well as conduct their own research in their final year. The academic staff is eager to collaborate with conservation students and is currently working with institutions like Princeton University and Kent Wildlife Trust.
Furthermore, students will work in the state-of-the-art Verena Holmes building. From the first week, they will use industry-standard equipment and facilities, gaining the confidence needed in the lab with tools that are utilized in the professional world.
