The department offers physical courses that fulfill the district and/or college graduation requirements and the foundation courses for those students interested in completing a certification program in Physical Education. There is also the opportunity to participate in classes for development of skills and knowledge in individual and team sports. In addition, Contra Costa College to provides courses that enhance life-long fitness, health, and recreation. Kinesiology is an academic area of study concerned with the art and science of human movement. The study of Kinesiology also involves an investigation of the historical, cultural, philosophical, psychological, and social factors which result from and influence play, games and sports. The Associate in Arts in Kinesiology for Transfer (AA-T) degree is designed to prepare a transfer pathway for students who plan to complete a baccalaureate degree in kinesiology or similar major at a California State University (CSU). With the completion of the AA-T in Kinesiology, students will possess foundational knowledge and skills that comprise the core content of the first two years of many baccalaureate programs in kinesiology.
