GCC’s Physical Education Studies program is strong due to its blend of liberal arts and science as well as an introduction to Physical Education theory.
This program also allows students to transfer and complete a Bachelor’s Degree in a specific Physical Education area of their choice. Students will also have the opportunity to earn coaching certification for New York State Non-Certified Physical Education Teachers.
Program Learning Outcomes
• Demonstrate teaching methods in Physical Education using accepted professional guidelines. • Communicate effectively in a professional environment. • Analyze current health and wellness issues and trends. • Apply a variety of technological skills to measure health, performance or other physical education related data. • Identify strategies for adequate personal professional development. • Analyze the benefits of daily fitness activity to a specific sport. • Develop rubrics to assess sports skills.
