Overview

The combined Bachelor of Health Science - Public Health/Bachelor of Management (B.H.Sc./B.Mgt.) degree program is a rarity in Canada that blends public health and management, and the Dhillon School of Business is the only one to offer this degree at an undergraduate level.

The Combined B.H.Sc./B.Mgt. degree program majoring in general management takes five years (50 courses) to complete and leads to the conferral of two degrees.

Bachelor of Management - General Management Management is leading others to accomplish common goals in business. Today’s managers are people oriented, creative, adaptable and strong communicators. They have to know how to deal effectively with rapidly changing environments, work successfully with small and large teams, live and work by principles of ethics and social responsibility and be aware of responsibilities to sustainability.

General management students study topics such as marketing, organizational behaviour, introductory accounting, managing responsibly in a global environment, human resources management, policy and strategy and probability and statistics. They will draw from fields such as history, English, political science, economics and sociology.

Bachelor of Health Sciences - Public Health Public health is focused on prevention rather than the treatment of disease. It examines the overall health of a population with the aim of developing strategies to promote and protect health.

Through course work and hands-on experience, the public health major at University of Lethbridge will provide students with the skills and tools needed to prevent disease/injury and to promote, and protect the health and well-being of Canadians and populations across the globe.

The core of the work in public health is to take steps to prevent chronic and infectious disease before it occurs. Students can join the program to be part of this exciting and rapidly expanding field and have a positive influence on their world!
