Overview
The Undergraduate Foundation Program in Life Science program is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education, for entry to a wide range of undergraduate studies at the University of Central Lancashire.
The Foundation portion of this program lasts one academic year (nine months). The year is divided into three terms of seven to eight teaching weeks and one examination week. On average, students will undertake 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week.
There are four academic pathways to choose from and candidates will study the pathway most suited to their chosen progression degree. Academic skills relevant to the specific subject area will be taught to fully prepare them for university study. The pathways are: Business, Economics, Finance and Management, Engineering and Physical Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences and Life Sciences.
A career in Clinical Psychology is seen by many as the pinnacle of a career in Psychology, with students attracted to the challenges that working with a wide range of mental and physical health problems can offer.
Graduates will often work with those facing anxiety, depression, learning difficulties or relationship issues. With an increased public awareness of the importance of mental health, the opportunities for working within Clinical Psychology and the demand for graduates with an understanding of these issues is on the increase.
This course is delivered not only by outstanding academic staff, but draws upon our extensive links in hospitals, health centres and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) to provide frontline staff to share their knowledge and experiences with the students.
