Overview

Foundation Studies - Information Technology (FS022SIT) (FS022SIT):Foundation Studies is chosen by international students all over the world as their pathway to higher education at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Foundation Studies is a fully owned entity of the university. The program provides students with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for their future academic success.

Located in the heart of the vibrant city of Melbourne, close to cafés, shops, arts and entertainment precincts, the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology Training’s Foundation Studies specialist staff support students every step of the way. The university provides opportunities to develop their global and social network, setting them up for success at the university and into the future.

To ensure students get the best start to their studies, the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology has invested in careers counselling, academic and welfare support for international students to access when and where it suits them.

Foundation Studies gives students the opportunity to study the subjects that align with their interests and study goals. They can choose from streams in: • Art, Design and Architecture • Business • Communication and Social Context • Engineering and Science • Health • Information Technology (IT)

Bachelor of Environmental Science (BP192P6) (047880G):

The environment faces threats and challenges that include climate change, habitat loss, overpopulation, emerging contaminant and pollution events, and food and water security. The breadth of these environmental challenges requires a combination of knowledge and skills in chemistry, biology, statistics, research, and earth sciences for an interdisciplinary approach to surmounting these difficulties.

Students will learn about the biogeochemical processes that occur in both natural and degraded environments and specialize with a minor in either environmental chemistry or environmental biology.

Students can also choose to minor in geoscience (environmental engineering) or geospatial science, or gain a breadth of knowledge across all the minors, depending on their preferred career pathway.

Over the course of students' studies, they will undertake both practical and industry-relevant activities, gaining: • considerable hands-on experience with equipment, both in the laboratory and in the field • frequent field trips during second and third year • working on collaborative projects with industry

These activities involve working in small groups to foster teamwork and a collaborative approach to research and projects.
