Overview

The BA (Hons) Business Management, Supply Chain and Logistics degree is designed to meet the growing demand for professionals with expertise in logistics and supply chain management, particularly in response to the rise of e-commerce, the impact of Brexit, and the increasing complexity of international supply networks. Ensuring that goods reach the right place at the right time and in the right condition is critical to organisational success, as highlighted by recent challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic and skills shortages within the logistics sector. As a result, graduates with a strong combination of business management and logistics knowledge are highly sought after.

The programme provides a comprehensive foundation in business management, covering key areas such as economics, finance, human resources, and marketing, before developing more specialised knowledge in supply chain and logistics from the second year onwards. Areas of study include asset management and value creation, sustainable supply chain development, and the principles and practices of international supply chains. Teaching is informed by current research in areas such as lean and green logistics, artificial intelligence, and sustainable business practices, ensuring an up-to-date and industry-relevant curriculum.

This degree is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and is one of the few programmes in the UK that enables graduates to gain the CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership alongside the degree, with no additional workload. This professionally recognised qualification supports full CMI membership and provides a clear pathway towards Chartered Manager status, demonstrating readiness for senior leadership roles. Practical learning is embedded throughout the course through work placements, internships, consultancy projects, and field trips, with the option to undertake a placement year between the second and third years to further enhance professional experience and career prospects.
