Substance Use Disorder Counselors work with a team of health and social services professionals to provide alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA) treatment services. Through classroom, laboratory and internship experience, they'll develop skills in counseling, diagnosis, treatment planning, group facilitation and crisis management. Students will learn how to respect clients' rights and understand the complexity of addiction illnesses. This degree prepares them for entry-level work in licensed AODA facilities such as clinics, hospitals and community residential facilities, as well as correctional facilities, employee or student assistance programs, and various community and social service agencies.
