Overview
With a combined Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Management (B.A./B.Mgt.) degree, the student can explore a multitude of interests and careers. For example, if the student is interested in managing an art gallery, they can major in art and general management. If sports marketing ignites their passion, they can major in kinesiology and marketing. The Combined B.A./B.Mgt. degree program takes five years (50 courses) to complete and leads to the conferral of two degrees. Bachelor of Management - Marketing
Marketing, a combination of art and science, is the core of any business. It helps identify consumer needs; guides the development of new products, services or communications strategies ensuring products and services are available where and when consumers want them; determines prices; and has the ability to adjust all of these for domestic and international markets. Almost one-third of North Americans are employed in marketing or marketing-related positions.
Marketers are the crucial link between an organization, their suppliers and their end-users, building relationships that benefit all parties. Marketers must have a strong understanding of the customer, whether an individual or an organization so they can effectively advise on all aspects of marketing.
Students learn to balance project experience with the latest theoretical concepts and study courses like consumer behaviour, advertising and promotions, managing responsibly in a global environment, economics, sports marketing, communications and social media, cross-cultural marketing, and statistics. They draw from fields such as history, English, political science, economics and sociology.
Bachelor of Arts - Music
Students can pursue their passion for music while exploring diverse courses. To those who are interested in music and another subject area, a BA (Music) allows students to explore their interests in the sciences, social sciences and humanities, while still focusing on music.
Through the classical music programs, students can choose a performance route and receive one-on-one instruction from master performer-teachers. Entrance to studio courses is dependent on a successful audition.
Students will attend guest artist classes and have multiple performance opportunities throughout the year. Recitals showcase the student’s development and accomplishments as a musician, and their experience is enhanced by participation in ensembles.
Areas of concentration: • Brass • Composition • Guitar • Percussion • Piano • Strings • Voice • Woodwinds
