Overview

When students join the University of Alberta’s Year One Foundation Program, they become U of A students from day one. They receive academic support that prepares them to enter a bachelor’s degree program in their second year, along with a “soft landing” to studying in Canada.

The University of Alberta’s Year One Foundation Program represents the first year of a four-year bachelor’s degree. It is designed for students who have course deficiencies and do not yet meet the academic entry requirements for their chosen degree program. Upon successful completion of the program, students progress directly into the second year without losing time on their path to graduation.

Why study this program? The BSc in Forest Business Management program, offered jointly by the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences and the Alberta School of Business, prepares students for a management career in the forestry industry. Students will learn to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges in forest and land management, and they'll also have the opportunity to attend several field schools, where they will learn first-hand about forestry operations. This degree will also prepare students to become a Registered Professional Forester (RPF).

Students can participate in the Alberta School of Business Co-op Program as part of this degree.

Why study at University of Alberta? The Faculty of Science at the University of Alberta delivers high-quality programs that investigate, explain, and explore the real science behind issues that affect our daily lives. With 12 teaching departments and 29 areas of study, it is one of the most comprehensive science faculties in Canada, with state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, and opportunities for undergraduate research.
