Associate of Applied Science - Deaf Studies - The Associate of Applied Science in Deaf Studies prepares students with foundational knowledge of American Sign Language, Deaf culture, and communication strategies that support meaningful interaction with Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. The curriculum focuses on language development, interpreting fundamentals, cultural awareness, communication ethics, and professional practices while encouraging inclusion and accessibility.. Students strengthen their communication and interpersonal skills through practical language instruction and experiential learning opportunities that promote cultural competence and professional confidence. Graduates are prepared for entry-level employment in community organizations, educational settings, customer service environments, and human service agencies or may continue their education in interpreting and Deaf Studies.
