Glasgow Caledonian University - Glasgow
The MSc Advanced Practice is designed to support registered health and social care professionals in advancing their careers by enhancing clinical expertise, leadership capability, and research skills. As health and social care systems increasingly integrate to better serve individuals, families, and communities, the demand for practitioners with master’s-level qualifications continues to grow.
This programme enables practitioners to build on their existing knowledge and apply it critically in areas such as clinical assessment, analytical thinking, and research. A strong emphasis is placed on person-centred care, with service users and carers at the core of clinical practice. Students explore how these perspectives can inform policy, improve outcomes, and strengthen professional communication and leadership.
The course is offered on a full-time basis, with a part-time option available for UK-based professionals. Students can complete the MSc Advanced Practice as a general award or choose to specialise in one of several pathways, including Musculoskeletal Health.
The Musculoskeletal Health pathway is designed for healthcare professionals such as physiotherapists, podiatrists, medical doctors, and nurses. It focuses on developing specialist knowledge in a key and rapidly evolving area of healthcare, offering a targeted selection of modules that align closely with professional practice.
Through this pathway, students expand their understanding of musculoskeletal health, engage with the latest research shaping clinical practice, and undertake a research project that advances their specialist knowledge and clinical capability. The programme strengthens skills in critical analysis, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based decision-making, while also enhancing leadership, communication, and educational abilities.
