University of Nottingham - Jubilee
Food production management is an exciting and challenging one, combining the sciences of food with skills in management. It prepares graduates in science and engineering for a career in food production or technical management in the food industry. Knowledge in food processing, quality assurance, and new product development will be gained. Essential management techniques such as supply chain planning and quality management will also be developed.
Throughout the year, industry exposure will be provided through factory visits, case studies, and guest speakers. Real-life industry problems will be tackled in the problem-based learning module. Briefs from industry will be used for a project on new product development. Practical work will be done in the Food Processing Facility, which has a variety of commercial-scale food production and testing equipment.
There is an opportunity to collaborate with the food industry on a research project. Projects can be based in a factory, laboratory, or literature. Some students may have the chance to complete their project at the facilities of industry partners.
