College Certificate - Millwright/Machinist Foundation

The Millwright/Machinist Foundation – Certificate program at Selkirk College prepares students for entry into the millwright and machining trades. Graduates of the program typically find employment as apprentice millwrights involved in the operation and maintenance of machines and systems in manufacturing plants, resource development firms, mines, mills, and various industrial enterprises. Apprentice machinists commonly work in industrial settings where they set up, calibrate, program, and operate sophisticated machine tools.

Graduates of the Millwright/Machinist 36-Week Foundation Program earn Level 1 and Level 2 technical training credit toward the millwright apprenticeship, as well as Level 1 technical training credit toward the machinist apprenticeship. Graduates of the Millwright/Machinist 30-Week Foundation Program earn Level 1 technical training credit toward both the millwright and machinist apprenticeships. In addition, graduates of either program may be eligible to claim advanced credit for either 425 work-based hours of the practical, on-the-job component of the millwright apprenticeship or 500 work-based hours of the practical, on-the-job component of the machinist apprenticeship.
