Overview
Integrated Foundation - Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - User Experience and User Interface (UX/UI) Design explores the importance of human‑centred design, emphasizing the value of end‑user experience and the creation of intuitive user interfaces. It develops an understanding of what constitutes professional UX and UI design for websites, applications, products, platforms, and services—across devices, media, screens, physical spaces, and immersive environments such as augmented, virtual, and mixed reality.
Through a combination of solo and group projects, participants examine the key aspects of UX and UI design: human‑centred design, user research, interaction design, accessibility, visual design, and information architecture. These areas are professionally identified, investigated, and applied to create innovative design outcomes.
Critical reflection, evaluation, justification, and communication underpin all activities within the course, encouraging creative and analytical thinking supported by technical expertise. Each participant develops an individual portfolio of resolved projects informed by user research and design experimentation, showcasing both creative vision and technological proficiency.
Designed to cultivate tomorrow’s industry‑ready UX and UI designers, the course recognises and nurtures the traits, experiences, and qualities that define excellence in the field. By integrating design thinking with software and technology, it examines how digital interaction shapes individual and collective futures, championing purposeful and socially positive design.
The course balances experimental practice with highly practical skills sought after across multiple industries, reflecting the growing need for user‑centred, research‑led approaches. Professionals who combine design thinking with technical knowledge and coding ability gain a valuable advantage across diverse sectors—ranging from entertainment, automotive, healthcare, fashion, gaming, travel, events, and museums to banking, retail, government, research, and education.
Graduates are well equipped for a broad range of design and technology roles, including user experience designer, user interface designer, interaction designer, visual designer, creative technologist, service designer, researcher, project manager, and producer. The program fosters individual creativity supported by a high level of practical and technical skill.
