Overview
In the Bachelor of Science (Applied Mathematics & Statistics) program, students will be taught to think logically, and learn how to approach theoretical and real-world problems in analytical and creative ways, and apply their knowledge to professional and academic contexts.
Students will undertake industry-based projects, workplace visits, lectures from practicing professionals, and work placements, and be taught using industry-relevant software and programming tools, all designed to connect their learning experience to industry.
The Bachelor of Science (Applied Mathematics & Statistics) will: • Enable students to become highly employable in the field of mathematics, statistics and cognate fields. • Give students a sound knowledge and skills of both fundamental and advanced mathematical and statistical theory. • Expose students to a wide range of mathematical and statistical models, programming environments, approaches and softwares. • Enable students to select and apply appropriate mathematical and statistical methodologies, techniques and softwares to a wide range of problems. • Expose students to related fields of study, such as environmental modelling, finance, marketing, computer science, data analytics, or information security. • Provide students with the opportunity to develop the skills and abilities to operate effectively in professional settings that involve mathematical and statistical expertise. These include communication skills, technology literacy, and the ability to work in a team and interact with others.
