As a double degree, it provides a strong combination of scientific understanding and technical design expertise, preparing graduates for diverse roles across industries.

In the final year, students choose a minor in environmental biology, environmental chemistry, or groundwater engineering, allowing them to tailor their studies to specific interests. The program includes extensive hands-on experience with laboratory and field equipment, field trips as a core part of learning, and opportunities to work on collaborative, industry-linked projects.

Throughout the degree, students engage in a variety of learning methods, including tutorials, seminars, laboratory sessions, independent and group work, and project-based learning. Assessment is conducted through assignments, quizzes, exams, presentations, debates, peer and self-assessment, and report writing.

Learning at RMIT is interactive and applied, with course content often delivered through online materials such as readings and videos, which support active, on-campus learning using specialised equipment and facilities.

The program also integrates RMIT’s future-focused capabilities, including being an ethical global citizen, staying connected, adaptable, digitally adept, expert, and critically engaged.
