Overview
Support. That’s what students will get from Nottingham Trent University – and lots of it. Mathematics is a beautiful subject, but it can be challenging one too. Nottingham Trent University's staff are not only experts in a range of mathematical fields, they’re also here to guide students on their journey and even inspire students to develop their own research areas.
Students will start with the core building blocks like algebra, calculus and statistics before focusing on advanced topics such as mathematical biology, quantum cryptography and graph theory. To back up all this knowledge, students will apply it to real-world situations, both in the classroom and in the innovative facilities.
Students will explore numbers, data, quantity, structure, space, models, and change, and mathematical applications that are fundamental to business and society. If students have a passion for mathematics, this course will help them to discover the proper application of modern techniques. The Mathematics degree course blends theory and practical applications so that students will be fully prepared for specialist employment in a broad range of roles and sectors.
In Years One and Two . students will explore a wide range of mathematical techniques and applications. Then, in the final year, students will get to choose a number of specialist modules, depending on their own personal preferences and career aspirations.
This course is also accredited by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, which is a seal of approval from the professional body and will help students on their way to Chartered Mathematician status.
