The Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Data Science program focuses on the study of data collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation. Statisticians and data scientists use these skills to summarize and visualize data, test hypotheses, estimate unknown quantities, and predict outcomes based on available information.
The program prepares students to (i) summarize and visualize data effectively, (ii) analyze data to address research and practical objectives, (iii) communicate results clearly in both oral and written forms, (iv) understand the role of the profession in service to society, and (v) collaborate successfully in interdisciplinary environments.
Designed to support two primary career paths, the program equips students either to enter the workforce immediately after graduation—in fields such as business, pharmaceuticals, actuarial science, and government—or to pursue advanced degrees (M.S., M.A., or Ph.D.) in statistics, biostatistics, data science, or related disciplines that require advanced quantitative and analytical expertise.
