Overview

If students split their University of Liverpool degree between French and another subject area, they will study a French language module, at beginners’ or advanced level, and a cultural module per semester, alongside two other modules in the other subject. If students combine French with a non-language subject, they will spend the Year Abroad in a French speaking country as an assistant in a school, as a student at a university or on a work placement.

In the Classical Studies programme students can combine classical studies equally with another subject. The programme focuses on the societies and cultures of Ancient Greece and Rome. Students will study their literary and visual cultures (including their art and architecture) against the backdrop of the history of the period. The programme also gives students the skills in reading and analyzing the surviving (and sometimes conflicting) evidence that will allow them to reach and present their own judgements convincingly.
